Surviving one of those days:

Updated: Aug 9

Alright, so you're having one of those days. You know the kind—where you roll out of bed and immediately regret it, and the universe seems to have conspired to make every single thing that can go wrong, go wrong. If you've ever found yourself muttering, "Seriously?" more than once before noon, this blog is for you.

Morning Madness

Let's start with the morning. You spill your coffee (or in my case, tea because I don't do coffee), the kids are acting like they've never heard of a school bus before, and you're pretty sure the dog just gave you the finger (figuratively, of course). At this point, it feels like the day's already lost. But wait—let's hit pause.

Step One: Laugh at the Absurdity

Nothing says, "I'm in control," like laughing maniacally at the chaos around you. The boss is being an idiot? Your coworkers are channeling their inner Neanderthals? Smile, laugh, and remember that we're all just a bunch of monkeys in clothes pretending to know what we're doing. Trust me, the moment you see the humor in the chaos, it loses some of its power over you.

Midday Mayhem

Lunchtime rolls around, and you're seriously contemplating whether the floor under your desk can double as a yoga mat. Here's where the real magic happens: Take a breather. Literally. Find a quiet corner, and do some deep breathing exercises. It might feel a little silly at first, but those deep breaths are like mini mental resets. Think of it as rebooting your brain's operating system.

Step Two: Meditation and Yoga

Sure, meditation and yoga might sound like something only yoga moms and hippies do, but there's a reason it's been around for thousands of years. Take five minutes to close your eyes and focus on your breath. If you're feeling adventurous, try some quick desk stretches. You don't need to be a pretzel to benefit from a little stretch.

Afternoon Antics

By the time the afternoon hits, you're probably ready to throw in the towel. Instead, throw yourself into something productive. Knock out a small, manageable task. The satisfaction of crossing something off your list can be surprisingly uplifting.

Step Three: End on a High Note

Finally, as the day winds down, take a moment to reflect. Remind yourself that no matter how crazy today was, you survived. You faced the idiocy head-on and came out the other side. Reward yourself with something that makes you happy—a favorite snack, a good book, or an episode of that show you're secretly addicted to.

Leaving you with this

As we wrap up this guide to surviving "one of those days," I'll leave you with a quote that's stuck with me through thick and thin: "The best way to predict the future is to create it." – Peter Drucker

So, go on. Create your future, one deep breath and laugh at a time.
